Erosa vs Lee: Can the "Korean Tiger" Handle Juicy J's Pace?
On Saturday, Oct. 31, UFC Fight Night at Meta APEX in Las Vegas serves up a featherweight fight built on one simple contrast: volume versus economy. Julian "Juicy J" Erosa meets South Korea's JeongYeong "Korean Tiger" Lee, and neither man is ranked. The card starts at 2 p.m. local time, with the main card at 5 p.m.
Erosa is the veteran here. He's 37, made his Octagon debut back in December 2015 and owns a 31-14 record. His finishing numbers jump off the page: 12 knockouts, 14 submissions and just five decisions, with nine first-round stoppages. Lee, 30, arrived in the UFC in June 2022 and is 11-3, with four wins by knockout, three by submission, four on the cards and five in the opening round.
The headline number belongs to Erosa: 6.18 significant strikes landed per minute. The catch is that he absorbs 6.31, and his 49% striking defense means plenty gets through. Lee operates at roughly half the volume, landing 3.38 and absorbing 3.82, with 51% defense. Their accuracy is a wash (48% for Erosa, 49% for Lee), but Lee has the higher knockdown average, 0.32 to Erosa's 0.20.
Physically, Erosa stands 6-foot-1 to Lee's 5-foot-10, yet the reach gap is just an inch, 74.5 to 73.5. Erosa does most of his work upright (78% of his significant strikes come standing, 16% in the clinch, 6% on the ground), while Lee spends more of his time tied up, landing 18% in the clinch and 12% on the mat. On the grappling side, Erosa averages 1.73 takedowns and 0.71 submission attempts per 15 minutes to Lee's 0.63 and 0.32, and Lee holds the edge in takedown defense, 73% to 62%.
Neither man tends to go long; their fights average 7:45 and 7:54. Erosa also has a submission game: 45% of his wins have come that way. So it comes down to this: can Lee survive the volume and punish the openings, or will Erosa's pace drown him?
