Pico vs Keita at UFC 333: Volume vs Knockdown Power
Losene Keita doesn't throw much. He hasn't needed to. The Belgian featherweight, nicknamed "Black Panther," carries a 1.68 knockdown average in the UFC, and 11 of his 17 wins have come by knockout. Across from him at UFC 333 is Aaron Pico, the #11 featherweight, who has yet to register a knockdown in the Octagon but buries opponents in volume: 6.16 significant strikes landed per minute against 3.11 absorbed.
They meet Saturday, Oct. 24, at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, on a card headlined by Alexander Volkanovski vs Movsar Evloev. Pico is 29 and 14-5. Keita, 28, is 17-2. Size won't decide much: Keita stands 5'9" to Pico's 5'8" and has a one-inch reach advantage, 71.5 inches to 70.5. Both are fairly new to the Octagon, too, with Pico debuting in July 2025 and Keita that September.
- Output: Pico lands 6.16 and eats 3.11 a minute, a margin of better than three strikes. Keita lands 3.91 and absorbs 3.97, so he's roughly breaking even.
- Accuracy: Pico connects on 54% of his significant strikes, Keita on 47%.
- Defense: Keita slips 65% of what comes at him. Pico avoids just 45%.
- Position: 86% of Pico's strikes come standing, 8% in the clinch and 6% on the ground. Keita is at 89% standing, 11% on the mat and zero in the clinch.
- Finishes: Pico owns nine knockouts, two submissions and seven first-round finishes. Keita has 11 knockouts, six first-round finishes and no submission wins.
Don't expect this one to drag. Pico's fights average 9:11 and Keita's 8:57, both short of two full rounds. Keita has also stuffed every takedown attempt against him so far, which makes it hard for Pico to take this to the mat and leaves Pico's 45% striking defense exposed in a stand-up fight. That's the puzzle: one man piles up volume, the other waits for a single clean shot. So which comes first — Pico's pace taking over, or the one big punch Keita keeps finding?
