About Crypto.com Arena

Crypto.com Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Downtown Los Angeles, California. It opened in 1999 as Staples Center and took its current name at the end of 2021, keeping the same building, the same address and the same place in the city's sporting calendar.

With capacity of around 20,000 for arena configurations, it is one of the busiest venues in North America — home ice and home court for the Los Angeles Kings, the Lakers and the Sparks, a regular host of the Grammy Awards, and a familiar stop for boxing and mixed martial arts.

For a fight night the floor is cleared for the cage and seating wraps it on every side: floor rows sit level with the action, the lower bowl gives a close angled read of the whole floor, and the upper level takes in the arena as one room. The building is enclosed and climate-controlled, so conditions inside are the same whatever the season outside.

Location and Setting

Crypto.com Arena stands in L.A. Live, the entertainment district on the southwestern edge of Downtown Los Angeles, directly beside the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Grammy Museum, the Peacock Theater, hotels, bars and restaurants sit within a few minutes' walk of the arena doors, which makes the block itself the gathering point before and after an event.

Downtown puts the arena within a short ride of the wider city: the Arts District, Grand Central Market and the Walt Disney Concert Hall are all a few kilometres north, while Los Angeles International Airport lies roughly 20 kilometres to the southwest — usually half an hour by car, longer in the city's well-known traffic.

Getting There

Downtown Los Angeles is one of the few parts of the city where public transport is the easier choice on an event night, and the arena is built for that.

Transport options:

  • Metro rail — Pico station sits a block from the arena and is served by the A and E lines, with connections at 7th Street/Metro Center and onward links from Union Station
  • Taxi and ride-hailing — Uber and Lyft operate citywide; designated pick-up zones around L.A. Live are used after events, and queues form once a full house leaves at once
  • By car — the arena is reached from the I-110 and I-10 freeways, with paid parking structures around L.A. Live and the Convention Center; leaving takes longer than arriving

Road access around Figueroa Street is managed closely when the arena is full, so allow extra time for the final approach and for security screening at the gates. Arriving well before the opening bouts leaves room to clear entry and find your section without rushing.

Venue Facilities

As a venue built for national broadcasts and full-house events, Crypto.com Arena carries the infrastructure expected of a major arena. Seating categories run from floor positions beside the cage, through the lower bowl, to the upper level with a full view of the floor and the card across the night.

Food and drink outlets operate throughout the concourses during events, and card and contactless payment are accepted across the building. Restrooms and accessibility provision are distributed around both concourse levels; accessible entry and seating arrangements for a given event are confirmed by the organiser.

Security screening at entry follows standard US arena protocols, and a clear-bag policy with size limits is common at venues of this scale. Prohibited items usually include professional cameras, large bags, and outside food and drink. Exact entry rules for a specific date are published ahead of the event — check them before you travel.

Visiting Los Angeles

A fight night at Crypto.com Arena pairs easily with a stay in Downtown Los Angeles, where hotels sit within walking distance of the doors, or with a base in Santa Monica, Hollywood or near the airport if you would rather trade the walk for a beach or a night out. Booking ahead is advised around a major event, when downtown demand rises.

The city rewards a longer trip: the Getty Center, Griffith Observatory, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Pacific beaches are all reachable within an hour of downtown, and the Arts District and Grand Central Market are minutes away. Los Angeles is warm and dry through most of the year, with mild evenings even in late summer, so an outdoor plan around the event usually holds.

Most international visitors need either an ESTA authorisation or a US visa depending on nationality — check the official US channels well before booking travel.
